Legitimate Ways to Make Extra Cash in Spare Time

As promised, we are having another blog post with more legit ways to bring in some more cash in your spare time. Just like last time, we did the research and found some very interesting stuff, and very creative. So here is this weeks ideas, and hopefully next week I will have more great ideas for you!

1. Sell ALL your old stuff- Sites like craigslist, ebay classifieds, and oodle let you post and sell goods for free, for the best results post on all three! If you get good, go to yard sales and pick out stuff specifically to sell.

2. Earn from Hobbies- If you like arts and crafts, etsy is the right place, letting you sell all your homemade arts and crafts online for free. Or if you just have a skill like math or guitar, you can teach lessons by posting them on the sites above. There are tons of ways to earn from your hobbies.

3. Enter lots of sweepstakes- If you want money with no work, this is the way to go. It may not pan out real well, but a game show in Japan had a guy live in an apartment with nothing and nothing to do but fill out sweepstakes, by the time it was over he had tons of interesting stuff!

4. Join a direct selling company- Companies like Avon let you sell products, usually to family or friends at parties to earn cash while with family. If you get real creative, you could even post product parties on facebook groups or church groups so friends of friends could be included!

5. Bake or grow food- If you like food, whether baking it or growing it, you should be making money! You can sell locally grown goods at farmers markets or small grocery stores, and you can sell baked goods at small local cafes and restaurants.

6. Run Errands for people- Most people hate picking up laundry, going grocery shopping, and all their other errands, so many would be willing to pay you to do it for them! The pay isn't all though, on taxes you can claim up to 50 cents a mile on business expenses, so you are earning twice!

7. Buy stuff and find stuff- Sites like Cashcrate give you a percentage of items you buy at places like walmart, office depot, and itunes plus have other options to earn like doing surveys or finding stores on google maps. Easy ways to make extra money at home

I have recently been trying to save money and make some extra money from home to add to my fund for a down payment on a house. In my research I found some pretty creative ways to make money, in ways I could never imagine even existed!! Some of them are wild, some of them are easy, but all of them put extra money in your pocket:


1. Freelance writing- Many websites offer opportunities to write and publish information. Some of them allow anyone to sign up and just write, and others are specifically looking for writers out there. The two best options are to search google for freelance writing opportunities and paid online journalism opportunities, or to search through craigslist for people seeking out bloggers to write specifically for them.

2. Advertise on your car- Sounds crazy, but true. There are companies out there that will pay you to put stickers or magnets on your car advertising for them. Groups like autowrapped and free car media are paying people to do their normal daily driving, with a twist.

3. Cashcrate- This is not your average survey site. This company will pay you to do small tasks, such as check menus on restraunt website, or to find businesses on google maps and pay you for it. Cashcrate pays users when you buy items to give reviews on them, to do surveys, and for small tasks. 4. Start a cafepress store- if you like to make pictures or often come up with catchy sayings cafepress may be best for you. It is a way to sell real items such as shirts and mugs online with your designs at no costs. You just have to make the designs on your computer and promote your cafepress store as best you can.

5. Get paid to put a sign in your yard- another very creative idea. Several ad companies will pay you money monthly to place a small sign in your yard for a business, just like if you were getting work done by them. Many times if you live on a busier street, they will pay you even more.

6. Sell extra clothes- several consignment store will buy old clothes from you. Some, like Plato's Closet, buy all old name brand clothes, while others buy any clothes and you just earn when it sells. I heard George Bush had a box for old clothes that people just gave to him in his college dorm room... could be a cash cow!

7. Sell gift cards online- Several websites out there will pay you top dollar for those gift cards you collect as gifts but never use. Services such as cardpool and plasticjungle buy these gift cards from you at prices as high as 92% and resell them so you get cash and others get card. So, you could even sign up for sites or contests that have giftcards you don't even want, and cash in online!
